Aluminum Properties
- Lightweight & Formable: One of the best known properties of aluminum is that it is light. It has a density one third that of a steel, 2,700 kg/m3. The low density accounts for it being lightweight and together with its excellent formability it’s considered one of the special metal in the world. As a matter of fact, Aluminum being lightweight lowers the static weight of a structure and it shows its great functionality especially in natural phenomena such as an earthquake.
- Relatively high melting point: the melting point of Aluminum is 1,100 F. Aluminum is considered as one of the non-combustible materials which makes it extremely special , for it doesn’t burn.
- Strong: Being 32.2 times stronger than UPVC, and 7.2 times stronger than wood, Aluminum is resistant to extreme weight, erosion and is not easily worn away. Aluminum is extremely durable and can last for an unlimited period of time. For instance, the aluminum used in building The Rome Cathedral has lasted until now without any change whatsoever. Aluminum also doesn’t absorb moisture and is waterproof. It doesn’t swell, it’s resistant to corrosion, it doesn’t get torn away, and it’s UV-proof.
- Another fantastic property of aluminum is that it comes in different colors which are washable as well. Moreover, Aluminum is 100 percent recyclable with no downgrading of its qualities. That is why Aluminum is mostly referred to as green and environmentally friendly products.
